Diamond Blade Debate
The last time that you needed a diamond blade did you purchase or rent? Blade production costs have dropped so much that purchasing seems to make the most sense. But for the occasional user, it might be a better value to rent a blade and return it. The problem we see with the rental process is the issue of wear. Some rental stores measure the blade when it leaves and then again when it is returned. You then pay for the amount that is worn off. Sometimes this wear charge can be very high. Many other rental stores just use a flat fee for the blade and a fee for the rental saw to run the blade. Cart-Away Supply stores will stock diamond blades for both rental and retail use.
We are considering another idea and we need your opinion. What would happen if Cart-Away Supply were to offer the use of a saw with no rental charge, if you purchased your own blade at the store? This system is like Gillette selling you shaver blades and throwing in the handles at no-charge. For years we have sold ready-mix concrete at a set price per yard and then have given, without additional cost, the use of the trailer for one or two hours. Why not do the same with diamond blades? You would purchase a blade for your application and you would get a free rental of a compatible concrete saw for a period of time.
Would this system be a better value for your diamond blade usage than you would get from renting?
